OxenWhite Photography is comprised of two photographers: Hermann Alb and Micah Ochs. Both photographers bring a unique perspective to the art of photography.
Hermann Alb was born in Guatemala and immigrated to New Orleans when he was nine years old. He studied at Tulane’s (now extinct) School of Engineering, graduating with a Master’s of Civil Engineering. It was here that Hermann began to discover his passion for photography. During the next several years while serving as InterVarsity Staff Leader at Tulane University and getting married, he developed his passion into something more than a weekend hobby.
Micah Ochs is the son of a German immigrant poet and a visual artist from New Orleans. Born in Tucson, he grew up in Central California and North Louisiana before returning to his mother’s hometown of New Orleans to pursue a Master’s in Architecture at Tulane University. He grew up surrounded by visual media and has pursued photography as a personal passion since his teenage years.
Hermann and Micah met as freshman at Tulane. They had tossed ideas about photography back and forth for years, but it wasn’t until Hermann asked Micah to photograph his wedding that they both began to take seriously the idea of forming a brand photography firm centered around what is known as Family Photojournalism.
Soon, they were leasing a digital storefront and hanging a pixel shingle on the web. OxenWhite Photography was born. Hermann and Micah have been shaping their vision of natural-light on-location family photojournalism ever since.
